The story of the Ray-Ban sunglasses began in 1927 when Lieutenant John MacCready, after having crossed the Atlantic in a balloon, asked Baush&Lomb to create panoramic, enveloping and filtering glasses. In 1933 the US Air Force ordered for its fighter pilots a scope that would take the name of Aviator. This Aviator sunglasses will become popular and then a real fashion phenomenon from the 1980s thanks to rock stars and movie stars from around the world.
